Did Someone Say Delicious Crackers? Yes, please! 🙋🏽
Don’t let all this talk about climate-friendliness fool you into thinking you have to give up taste in the name of doing good. Nothing could be further from the truth. Our crackers are crazy delicious! Crispy, fresh, savory, and downright magical, you can taste the love that goes into them with each and every bite.
We have three delicious flavors: Sourdough Sea Salt, Tomato Basil, and Rosemary Garlic.
Here’s what makes them so special (and tasty!):
-
Regeneratively grown ingredients. Our Edison wheat and sunflower oil come from regenerative farms that prioritize healthy soil.
-
Organic and non-GMO ingredients. Our ingredients are clean, traceable, non-GMO, and certified organic.
-
Crazy delicious. Stone-milled, Edison wheat makes our crackers light and crispy. Our special milling process preserves the natural character of the wheat by retaining a portion of the bran.
-
Great for pairing. Slide that dip on over! Our crackers are tasty all on their own, but they’re also sturdy enough to eat with cheese and spreads.
-
Heart-healthy oil. Our sunflower oil is pressed from flowers grown on regenerative farms in Colorado. Plus, it’s high oleic, which means that it’s rich in monounsaturated fats (the good kind!)
The Climate-Friendly Food Movement
The climate-friendly movement supports the fight against the climate crisis that impacts all of us and our planet. We can get behind that!
A big part of the climate-friendliness movement is finding what works best for you. At Moonshot, we wanted to focus on the power of food. Meals and snacks bring us all to the same table to gather with a common goal - to spend time together and nourish our bodies. What if we thought of this same table as our planet and the common goal as doing our part to fight against the climate crisis?
We want to show others that while it can be tough to make changes toward climate-friendly food production, it really is possible. From sourcing ingredients locally from farmers who support regenerative agriculture, to making sure that our packaging is compostable, it’s all about taking conscious steps toward going carbon neutral. Imagine if every single snack producer alone in North America made one incremental change toward becoming climate-friendly -- we’d get a lot of time back on the Climate Clock!
If you’re reading this, maybe we are like-minded and can team up!
How Moonshot Was Born
Our founder, Julia Collins, wanted to make a difference and help heal the planet for all generations to come. When Collins became a mother, she had that nurturing desire to make the world a better place for her tiny human and others. So, she set out on a mission to do so.

Julia founded Planet FWD, a company that uses the magic of food to help tackle climate change. Planet FWD is currently building a platform to help other food brands create climate-friendly products. This is not a lone maverick mission...this is a mission that requires teamwork!
Moonshot Snacks is Planet FWD’s sister company. We’re on a mission to create delicious, carbon-neutral snacks that are good for all of us and our planet. Moonshot continues to shoot for the moon by creating climate-friendly snacks. We know that we’re just a snack, but we sweat the small stuff because we believe that it matters.
For us, it comes down to:
-
Being carbon neutral
-
Using organic ingredients
-
Working with climate-friendly regenerative farmers
While there is no silver bullet to solving the climate crisis, the daily decisions we all make as consumers and companies matter. No step on this mission is too small or too simple.
As we embark on this mission, we have kept things simple. Our organic heirloom wheat and sunflower oil are sourced as close to the farmer as possible and can be traced back to farmer and field. We have a shorter supply chain, and our ingredients are grown with regenerative agriculture practices.
When learning and researching about climate change, it can be easy to get discouraged; we’ve all been there. When that happens, we turn to our teammates for support, to lift us up. We’re all here for each other!
Plus, Moonshot is proud to be a women and BIPOC owned business.
Best of all? Our crackers are so delicious you’ll naturally want to tell all your friends about us! Trust us to impress your guests and wow at your next gather. When you tell them the delicious snacks they’re munching on are also carbon neutral, they’ll be amazed!
Hopefully you’ll agree that Moonshot is well worth supporting! This is how movements are born.
Rethinking Business as Usual

Rethinking business as usual is the first step, and we've done a lot of thinking about how to create a company that puts nature first. We are bold and imaginative so that together, we can make a difference.
-
Business as usual is happy farmers. Paying our farming partners a premium means that we can team up to build a market for the food they grow with caring hands and healthy soil.
-
Business as usual is organic. Like us humans, as our ingredients grow, they should be nurtured and fueled with nothing but the best. That's why our snacks include only the best certified organic ingredients. We understand the importance of how our ingredients are grown and not using synthetic pesticides and fertilizers.
-
Business as usual is regenerative agricultural practices. Regenerative agriculture improves the soil's health and can help draw down carbon and bury it in the soil.
-
Business as usual means healthy soil for a happy planet. Practicing regenerative agriculture helps create this healthy soil, trap carbon in the ground, and renew all of those nutrients.
We have rethought business as usual to demonstrate that climate-friendly food can be made! To us, being climate-friendly means making every decision with the climate in mind. We believe that, with your help, we can change business as usual.
Climate-Friendly Farmers & Regenerative Agriculture
> DID YOU KNOW… there are approximately 2.1 million farms across the United States, and approximately 99% of these farms are family-owned?
Climate-friendly farmers produce planet-friendly food. Many planet-friendly farmers are great friends with regenerative agriculture. And we all want to be friends!
In simple terms, regenerative agriculture is a way of practicing agriculture that regenerates and restores ecosystems - essentially putting more back into the system than is being taken. This process has the potential to sequester carbon and help combat climate change. Not only does regenerative agriculture help make the land more resilient to weather events, but the soil also becomes host to billions of microorganisms that bolster nutrient levels in foods as well! Regenerative agriculture stems from the wisdom of working together with nature as Indigenous Peoples have for millennia.
Knowing where you buy your food from goes a long way -- choose companies that support regenerative agriculture!
Shorter Supply Chains
With shorter supply chains, our ingredients spend less time traveling, which means that when you bite into our snacks, they have bolder, fresher flavors.
-
Our wheat is grown only 2 miles from the mill, where it is turned into flour
-
The mill is only 85 miles away from the bakery that creates our yummy snacks
-
Our bakery is only 40 miles from our shipping facility
Having a shorter supply chain makes it easier to monitor, control, and direct every part of our mission. Shorter supply chains are also climate-friendly with less food miles. We’re proud to demonstrate that a short supply chain is possible to our fellow snack companies!
Climate-Friendly Packaging

The paper boxes used to protect our crackers are made from 100% recycled paperboard. We also use plant-based inks so that the box is compostable. Please help us by recycling or composting our packaging when you’ve finished your crazy delicious crackers!
We don't stop there, and neither should you. Moonshot is committed to finding a home-compostable interior bag solution and has been experimenting and researching options for the last year!
Carbon Neutrality
We are 100% carbon neutral, which means that the carbon emissions generated by making our snacks are offset by funding an equivalent amount of carbon emission savings elsewhere in the world. We partner with Native Energy to conserve grasslands in Colorado to prevent the land from being converted to farmland. This land conservation means that the soil continues to hold on to its carbon.🥳
The Takeaway
Going climate-friendly doesn’t mean you should have to sacrifice taste or quality! Climate-friendly snacks often taste more delicious because of how mindfully the ingredients are grown and the love and intention that goes into their creation.
At least this is true here at Moonshot Snacks! These organic crackers are crazy delicious and are paving the way to change our food system and help our planet. To the moon we go! Are you coming with us? 🌙
